The Project
What is Bikings all about?

“IT´S NOT ABOUT CYCLING AROUND THE WORLD”
The Bikings Project was born with the idea of circumnavigating 16,000 km around Australia. When reaching 8,500 km and in the need of a visa extension to finish all the way around the country, the application was denied so we decided to come to Malaysia in search of new experiences.
We are three friends who dedicate ourselves to photography, digital communication, music, cooking and sound. We travel with our instruments and with a band on board “Guampas del Sur”, taking our music and soul to every place we get to.
Our aim is to make people travel while we do, showing through our view the places we go and the people we meet and above all, inspire and encourage youngsters to gift themselves the opportunity of having an outdoor experience. Something we believe is basic and that plenty of people miss experiencing in the world we are living today.

Digital Creative
DANIEL RECHT
Daniel is a digital creative. He worked for 4 years as a digital creative art director in the Argentine advertising market. Fond of traveling and adventure he endured his first bike tour experience back in 2015, traveling 460 km along the coast of Uruguay. In 2016 he travelled to Australia where the idea of cycling the country was born. Before heading to Costa Rica to continue traveling, he makes a first pilot bike tour of 1,200 km in the Australian Northern Territory. 6 months later, after working as a creative once more, this time in Costa Rica, he travels to Cuba to do another bike tour experience, cycling 500 km from the city of Havana to Trinidad. -

and cookFRANCO RECHT
Franco is a musician, percussionist and a cook. He went on his first bike touring experience back in 2014 from Holland to Germany. After a radical change of course, he completed 3,000 km through the route to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. He is a self-taught musician. He is currently a salesman for a beer keg company, he trains daily, cooks for big events and spends what is left of his time reading. In 2016 he undertook a course on Permaculture design: "philosophy of agriculture" or "permanent culture". This concept, or rather view of the world was generated in Australia. This, in effect awakened Franco’s interest even more to cycle around the country. -

Guampas del Sur, a music group conformed by Máximo González Cadel and Franco Recht saw its origins in 2013 in a street tour around Europe. They define their music as free-spirited and melodies that vary between the fusion of folk rock, rumba, folklore, rap and reggae. After 4 years of their first tour, they understand that it is primordial for them to return to the stage. This time on wheels and with a brother-team as an extension.

Nov 17 2018 "Dani had been with a pain in the Achilles tendon for at least one month. We kept pedaling but we talked about that constantly. Franco and I trying to make Daniel realize that sooner or later we had to stop. We were talking about HIS tendon, not ours, but, knowing Daniel, getting him off the bicycle was one of the most complicated..." -
